Originally designed to complement the lamps of the formless collection, the pedestals are simple pieces of wood cut from the live edges of wood boards where the design is left to the tree and all that the craftsmen does is make it functional with as little intervention as possible. The pieces are treated with a uniform application of iron mordant and the differences in colour reveal the difference in the density and composition of the underlying wood grain.
