Beyond the TreeLine

TreeLine is the demarcation line of the forest, beyond which the landscape is too harsh and only few trees live. For this collection our inspiration draws from the character of the trees that inhabit this landscape.

All pieces minimize the number of elements required to function. These elements are heavier than usual, instilling a quality of sturdiness basic to the character of living in these environments. The minimalism is furthered by the simple and clean geometric forms reflecting the contrast a tree introduces into a barren landscape.

Formless

The design of forms is an endless and entertaining endeavor. Forms are easily graspable and instill a feeling of knowing. For this collection we chose to focus less on form and more on the formless. It is an invitation for unknowing.

All pieces incorporate formless elements, the living inner bark of the tree. The bark of a tree twists and turns in unpredictable ways, it is knotted and tangled, far removed from the clean cut smooth surfaces we are so accustomed to. The movements of the bark are caused by a multitude of factors affecting the growth of the tree, it is a testament to its aliveness. In the formless collection we attempt to emphasize this aliveness by contrasting it with geometric forms.
